Terms of use

PresenceScope reads the public pages of a website you submit and produces an automated report: a score, category scores and findings about how the site presents a local business online. You can preview a scan without an account and save it to an account to keep it.

• Only submit websites you own or manage, or that you have permission to assess.
• The scanner reads pages that are publicly available, the way a browser would, and identifies itself (see our scanner). It does not sign in, submit forms or try to reach private areas.
• The content of a scanned website belongs to its owner. Reports describe that content; they do not give you any rights in it.

Scores and findings are produced automatically from what the scanner could fetch at the time of the scan, using a published, versioned set of checks. They are an aid to improving a website, not professional, legal, accessibility-compliance or marketing advice, and they can be incomplete or wrong — for example when a site blocks automated requests, relies on JavaScript to show its content, or changes after the scan. Make your own judgement before acting on a report.

You agree not to:

• use the service to harass, overload or attack any website, or to probe networks or systems you are not authorised to test;
• get around usage limits — for example by automating submissions, rotating addresses or creating multiple accounts;
• interfere with, reverse-engineer or try to gain unauthorised access to the service or other users’ data;
• use the service in breach of any law.

We may refuse, limit or stop scans, and suspend or close accounts, that break these rules or put the service or others at risk.

Keep your sign-in details secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. Preview and share links work like passwords — anyone who has one can open it, so share them only with people you trust. You can ask us to delete your account at any time (see the privacy policy).

We work to keep the service available, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Scans are subject to usage limits, and a scan can fail — for instance if the website is unreachable or too slow. We may change, suspend or discontinue features.

The service, its software, checks and design belong to PresenceScope. You may use the reports generated for you for your own business purposes, including sharing them with your clients or colleagues.

To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, and PresenceScope is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or business opportunity, arising from your use of the service or of any report. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

We may update these terms. The new version takes effect when it is published here with a new effective date; continuing to use the service after that means you accept it.
